Teaching Fellow Application

Thank you for your interest in tutoring with Hatch Tutors! The deadline is August 26th, 2022 for those interested in being a Teaching Fellow for our fall cycle. The application has three short sections and should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete. You will be contacted by email by a member of our team no later than September 2nd.

The Hatch spring cycle will be an 12-week program from September 16th, 2022 to December 9th, 2022.

Role Summary

Hatch Tutors is looking for college students and recent graduates to fill the Teaching Fellow position who are passionate about tutoring and are responsible and organized. Teaching Fellows are responsible for tutoring at least one student over a 12 week period and engaging with their Teaching Fellow community through small-group teaching improvement and personal development meetings (known as Flock meetings). They will work closely with their Head Teaching Fellow to make the tutee experience fulfilling and fun for the cycle!

Role Responsibilities

  • Tutor at least 1 student for an entire 12 week cycle

  • Asynchronously watch training modules and discuss them with your flock in two sessions

  • Dedicate at least 1.5 hours with each tutee/week (including 30 minutes of preparation)

  • Meet with Flock once/month to improve and personalize teaching strategies

  • Check-in regularly with Head Teaching Fellow once/month at minimum (email or text)

  • Participate in and actively support Flock activities led by the Head Teaching Fellow

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school graduate (qualified high school seniors may also apply)

  • Previous experience with tutoring (helpful, but not required)

  • Active, responsible, organized, engaging, independent

  • Responsive to communications and actively engages in conversation

We expect Teaching Fellows to dedicate at least 1.5 hours to preparing and conducting tutoring sessions for each student each week. There will also be two hours of required meetings each month for program improvement, professional development, and community building. The fall cycle will run from September 16th to December 9th.
